thankful.

Let the "end of the year madness" begin. For whatever reason, during the last two weeks of class professors think it's a great to assign more tests and projects than a single person can handle. I foresee many sleepless nights in my future followed by a grande Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks. In the middle of all the craziness, I've had to take a minute to step back and realize how how unbelievably blessed I am. In the last week or so, many great things have happened in my life.

I am very thankful to say that I received a summer internship offer at Warner Music Nashville. I have been dreaming of interning with such a successful label in Nashville since I was in high school. I may or may not have done a little dance or two around my room after I heard the good news. This opportunity is such a blessing. I'm still am having a hard time believing that I am even qualified for this position. I will be interning in the publicity department at Warner Music; how great does that sound?

It's official, I'm living in a house next year. A real house, not an apartment, but a place with a front porch and everything. I don't think that I can contain my excitement. Besides having the greatest roommates in the world, our new house is fabulous. I am obviously most excited about having our very own  front porch. I hope to have a beautiful hammock by the time August rolls around (cough cough Ryan Bell cough cough).

I've been reminded of the wonderful friends that I have. It's easy to take people for granted when you are comfortable around them. My friends and family are incredible; I am  guilty of not telling them how great I think they are. I love figuring out why God puts certain people in our lives at certain times.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't always remember to count my blessings. But after a week filled with so much happiness, I can easily recognize all the things that God has done for me. How great is He!

my little room.

When Jessica and I decided to live in The Commons, I was pretty excited because I was actually "allowed" to put holes in the walls. Last year in Laurel, the sorority apartments on UT's campus, it was forbidden to do such a thing. My room at The Commons is somewhat small, so I knew that it would be pretty simple to make it seem cozy. If I do say so myself, I think I did a pretty solid decorating job.

Fake flowers from Walmart + Ryan's old root-beer bottle = perfection

I'm obsessed with this sign. It was a birthday present after I got my tattoo.

My desk area. Surprisingly enough I can actually get a lot of homework and studying done in this space.

If your my friend on Facebook you might have seen this picture already. I get more compliments on this picture creation than I probably do on any of my other crafts. Do not be fooled, it was a total pain in the butt making the heart symmetrical. Most likely I will cry when I have to take it down.

Who ever thought of hanging pictures on hemp string is genius in my book. All you need is pictures, hemp string, and clothes pins. I painted my clothes pin white and brown to match my room.

Two of my favorite things: christmas lights & flowers. I didn't decide to hang lights up in my room till Christmas time, and boy I wish I had hung them sooner. These simple little lights are great.

Love these. Love that they are so easy to make. All you really need is tissue paper and hemp string.

I found this lamp at Goodwill for 5 bucks. It used to be a strange, gold color and I was not a fan. So, I bought a can of spray paint and a silk flower from Hobby Lobby. Ta da!
Today, a wonderful thing happened in my life.  Two people that I care about with every ounce of my soul developed a great thing: a relationshipI don't know why I ever doubt the power of God and His perfect timing. Many things seemed to fall in place tonight, and I am thankful beyond words. My heart is happy, glory to God!

Love.

At any age our understanding of love is pretty much the same. Love is when your heart pounds out of your chest, your palms get sweaty, and you blurt out gushy words that you didn't even know were in your vocabulary. But that's what makes it so special, right? Love is a universal thing. Contrary to what one may believe, it doesn't take a scientist to figure love out.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that most of y'all have seen this before. But even if you have and you're like me, then you could read them over and over again. A group of children ages 4-8 were asked the question, "What does love mean?" Below are some of my favorite answers. If you want to see the rest of the answers click here.

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca- Age 8

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross." Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget," Jessica - age 8

Buy Jess a drank.

One of my very best friends turned 21 this past Sunday. This friend of mine is unbelievable. Her name is Jessica Henderson and if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting this fine lady yet, I highly recommend that you do. I've known Jessica since our middle school days, but it wasn't until high school that we became good friends. Now I am thankful to say that Jessica is one of my greatest friends and my roommate. If there is one thing you should know about Jess, it's that her heart is so big.
With that being said, I am so excited to let y'all know how Jessica has decided to spend her birthday month. Most people ask for tangible items as a  birthday present, but instead Jessica is asking people to make a donation for an awesome cause. She is part of a campus organization called Give Haiti Hope at the University of Tennessee. Last year Give Haiti Hope started a really cool fundraiser called "21 For Haiti". The concept is pretty simple, you can go online and buy Jessica a virtual drink at the virtual bar. The goal is to raise $21,000 during the month of April. Help us reach this goal! All proceeds benefit Boucan-CarrĂ©, a small village in Haiti.

Visit www.21forhaiti.org and buy a margarita, Jack & Coke, or maybe even a glass of wine for the birthday girl. Happy Birthday Jessica!

I leave the little girl I nanny for alone for 2 minutes to play lego's with her brother and this is what happens. Poor Max, he wore the headband like a champ.

Rainy pictures for a rainy day.
